5 Simple Tips for Small Spaces Holiday Decor

So you’ve decorated the tree, hung the wreath, and placed lights in your bushes. You’re done decorating for the holidays, right? Don’t forget other small spaces that your guests might see. Whether you will have relatives in town or friends over for a party, it is likely that many people will be in your home this holiday season, and that a lot of them will be using your guest bathroom. So, today I have five tips for you to keep your small spaces just as festive as the rest of your home.

Work with the existing color scheme – small spaces don’t have a ton of room for additional items or decor. So, start with what you already have and need and build off of that. Our guest bathroom is blue, red, and white, so we embraced that for our festive color scheme. I focused on adding more pops of red, to really make the space feel festive.

A little goes a long way – small touches can make a big difference in smaller spaces. Gift wrap an existing framed photo or add a santa hat to a small figurine for simple, festive touches.

Let fragrance set the mood – seasonal air fresheners and candles can really put a small space in the holiday spirit. Bonus points if they coordinate with your color scheme!

Think outside the box – I knew that replacing our shower curtain would make a big statement, but I didn’t want to shell out the cash for something that I would just use for a few weeks. Instead, I picked up this rectangular vinyl tablecloth from the holiday section at Walmart for just a couple of dollars and used my hole punch to make it fit easily on my shower curtain rings!

Stock up on the essentials – the last thing that you want to happen is that you run out of paper towels in the middle of your cookie exchange, or that Granny can’t find any toilet paper in the middle of the night. Make sure that you are well stocked on essentials.

Your local Walmart has a great selection of Cottonelle, Kleenex, Scott, and Viva products to get you through the season. I completed our guest bathroom with Viva® Big Roll Paper Towels, Scott® 1100 Bathroom Tissue, Cottonelle® Toilet Paper Double Rolls, and Kleenex® Perfect Fit Holiday Canisters.

When you’re shopping for essentials, remember to check the Ibotta app, an app for your phone that connects you with rebates for many of your favorite brands. Simply search for the item you just purchased, scan the barcode, and attach a photo of your receipt. The rebate will be credited to your account, which you can cash out to Paypal, Venmo, or for a giftcard!

For example, with the Ibotta app, I got:

  • $1 off Cottonelle 12-ct or larger
  • $1 off Scott 12-ct or larger
  • $1 off Viva 6-ct or larger
  • Buy two products and get an extra dollar back

So, tell me below, how are you decorating your small spaces for the holidays? Are you stocking up for guests?

I love this post. I can't believe how awesome that tablecloth looks as a shower curtain!

I know, right? It was kind of a wacky idea, but the dimensions were right! It's the waterproof type of tablecloth so it's perfect for a bathroom!
