Before the Wedding Questionnaire

Sorry for the overall lack of wedding details lately, folks. We’re in this awkward time where we really aren’t doing much. I ordered the fabric to finish sewing table runners and we are in the design phase of our invitations, but really there just isn’t a lot going on. It should kick into gear after the new year.

But for now, this fun wedding before-and-after questionnaire was started over at WeddingBee by  Miss Border Collie and Mrs. Barn and I was excited to play, too.

As a bonus, I got the mister to answer, as well. I’ve been shocked at his overall excitement and interest towards the wedding so I feel like this wouldn’t be complete without him. Funny note – I did NOT show him my answers before he filled his out, so it’s very interesting to compare what we say.

I’ll fill this in again after the wedding and see how my answers change.

1. What is your biggest priority for the event (e.g., catering, photography)?

Morgan – Our priority definitely went to the venue. That (and the associated catering) ate up most of our budget but I think that it will be so worth it to give our guests the Charleston experience. I want them all to leave saying “Wow, I love Charleston”. I want them to enjoy the sights, the tastes, and the feeling of this place that has grown to mean so much to us. I hope that they get the chance to enjoy it all weekend and that our wedding is a nice representation of the city to them.

Sean – My biggest priority is to make sure people have an enjoyable experience throughout the whole evening. We want to give them a “Charleston experience” and make sure they leave feeling full of food and a good time.

2. What is your biggest concern for the day (e.g., rain, nobody dancing, guests being bored)?

Morgan – Well I guess the worst thing would be if the groom didn’t show up! I think that the Sex and the City movie has put that image in my mind. But, realistically, rain would be the biggest bummer. We have a rain plan (that involves ordering a second tent and tent walls if there’s a downpour on the forecast), but so much of this venue is appreciating the great views, deck, and scenery. Cross your fingers for us!

Sean – My biggest concern is rain. I know everything will come together in the end, but we can’t control the weather. There is a permanent tent at the venue, so it would be ok for the ceremony if it was just drizzling. Anything more than that, we’re in trouble. And if it rains at all, I don’t know where we’ll have the cocktail hour. The venue is great, but not big enough to have all three parts of the wedding inside.

3. What DIY project do you care about the most?

Morgan – I’m putting a lot of elbow grease into these table runners but they are so crucial to my vision. We are about to start on the invitations which are a semi-DIY and I imagine will take some time. Basically all of the decor will be DIY so I’m excited to see how all of the little things come together (with the help of my DOC).

Sean – I’m planning on making two wood projects that I want to turn out really well for the reception, but then I’ll also have for use in my home. One is a homemade “BAR” sign I’m working on with bottle caps and the other is a wooden sign with our hashtag in string. Both of these can be used in our home one day.

4. What is your worst wedding-related nightmare?

Morgan – I have a recurring dream where my teeth fall out, and I recently had one where I opened my mouth to say my vows and all my teeth fell on the floor. So, yeah, that.

Sean – Morgan not being happy. She has so many great ideas for the wedding and works herself into extreme anxiety about things that I don’t think are a big deal yet, so I want to make sure she’s happy with everything in the end.

5. Do you think you are going to eat?

Morgan – Honestly, nibbles only. When I’m busy/stressed, eating is the first thing that goes out the door. I’ve already asked my sister to remind me to eat – before the wedding and during the reception. Hopefully the food will be so good that I won’t be able to forget!

Sean – I am absolutely going to eat. I don’t care what people have told me about not having time to eat. We are basing our menu off of things that the two of us like to eat and will include some of our favorite foods. I’m a huge eater, so I will be enjoying food before walking around to thank everyone.

6. What is the picture you think you have to have?

Morgan – I’d love to get a kissy pic at sunset on the upper deck like this one:

Sean – Our venue has an amazing crow’s nest on the roof. I can’t wait to get a photo of us up there with the sunset in the background and the sailboat masts sticking up from the creek.

7. What is your biggest fear about what could go wrong versus what was the worst thing that happened at your wedding?

Morgan – Rain, overall lack of organization or timeline (I’m all about the schedule), someone getting hurt or sick, or running out of food or drinks are worst case scenarios in my mind. I am putting checks into place for each situation – rain plan, creating a timeline/schedule with the DOC, having a first aid kit on site, and getting overzealous with the caterer all are hoping to ease my mind.

8. What are you looking forward to the most?

Morgan – Other than the honeymoon? I think that the idea of having all of our closest friends and family in one room is really special. We don’t have the luxury of living near a lot of them, so this will truly be a once in a lifetime opportunity for that.

Sean – Honestly, I’m looking forward to it being over and us being married. I feel like we are already married, but not legally. I want to wear that ring on my finger that says we are married and then we can make legitimate moves starting the rest of our lives.

9. What do you think your guests will enjoy the most?

Morgan – I hope they enjoy Charleston – and especially all the food! We are making an effort to keep things Charleston-inspired, and I think that will be pretty cool for the out of town guests.

Sean – Hopefully, the Charleston experience. The venue is on the water and we’ll be serving food that is authentic to Charleston. Many of our guests have never been to visit and we want them to see why this city was voted the number one tourist destination in America.

10. What do you plan on doing after the wedding is over?

Morgan – Breathe! We are having an unofficial afterparty at one of our favorite creekside bars just across the parking lot from our venue. We’re still figuring out the transportation thing so I don’t know exactly how it will work out or if we will even want to stay. I plan to have a white cocktail dress on standby, just in case.

Sean – First and foremost, enjoying a great honeymoon to Italy. Neither of us has ever been and I’ve never been to Europe at all. I’m super excited about visiting an amazing country and eating and walking around and having a great time unwinding from the whirlwind of the wedding.

Bonus: Do you intend on donning lingerie for the evening?

Morgan – Ha! I believe that’s for my husband’s eyes only, but I’ll just say – I didn’t spend 2 years of college working at Victoria’s Secret for nothing…

Sean – Absolutely 😉
