Christmas Tree Trends for 2023

Looking for the latest Christmas trends for 2023? Here are some of the holiday decorating trends to expect!

After a year like we've had, we need a fun, happy holiday season!

One of the most fun aspects of the holiday to me is decorating!

Many Christmas decorations are timeless. If you prefer to decorate in a traditional style or with the same decor every year, that is great!

However, many people like to mix up their decor for each Christmas season.

Maybe you usually decorate all the same, but this year you need a change.

Or maybe you have an attic full of Christmas decor and just have to pick which pieces to put out this year.

I've dove into Pinterest and store catalogues and am excited to share with you my Christmas 2022 trend forecast!

Christmas Tree Trends for 2023

Here are some of the big trends that I have identified for Christmas this year! I hope these decor ideas get your imagination flowing.

Christmas Tree Color trends for 2023

Traditional Christmas colors are red and green. However, it can be fun to mix up that color scheme.

A good place to take a hint for Christmas colors is with the major paint brands' colors of the year.

Navy Blue

Deep, muted blues have been having a big moment in home decor.

So, I would expect a lot of navy blue this Christmas.

I actually love blues for Christmas and think it's really unexpected but also timeless.

To brighten up this dark shade, pair it with metallics like gold or platinum and bright white accents!

Green on green

Green has been the top trending color this year, so it makes sense that it will be around for Christmas.

Green can be almost neutral if it's muted and used in greenery, or it can be more of a bold use of color.

You really can't go wrong with green!

Blush Pink

Blush might seem like a totally different color than the previous blues, but they actually really work well together.

This color palette is great for Christmas and can have a light, ethereal effect. This is a really fun option if you want to have a whimsical tree, too!

Holiday Decor Trends 2020

Boho Vibes

Boho is a major trend in home decor and fashion, so it's not a surprise that it flows over into holiday decor this year.

Boho incorporates a lot of plants and greenery, natural wood tones, and woven textures.

Consider using raw wood for ornaments and accessories.

Or, pull out your macrame skills and create woven garlands or ornaments!

The boho look is easy to DIY and is extremely on trend.

Neutral Decor

While farmhouse style was most popular when Fixer Upper was live a few years ago, the neutral colors of that look are still very popular.

If you hop on Pinterest and look for "Christmas Trees" you will see what I mean. Tons of white, tan, and neutral colors everywhere you look!

When decorating with neutrals, focus on adding lots of texture. So, don't just do shiny balls. Mix in textured ribbons, fur, or velvet.

Neutral colors with lots of textures is a beautiful holiday trend this year!

Holiday Decor Trends

Recycled Materials

Recycling is always on trend, and as Generation Z is growing to be old enough to design their own holiday decor, recycled materials are getting even more popular.

An easy way to do this is with eco-friendly gift wrapping. This could include recycled paper, newspaper, fabric, or even part of the gift like a scarf.

You can also upcycle recycled items to create ornaments, string them together to make garlands, or re-purpose old or thrifted clothing into stockings or tree skirts.

Throwbacks

Nostalgic and vintage decor will be popular this year!

If you want to get this look on a budget, head to your local thrift show and see what you can dig up! There is usually plenty of Christmas decor that might just need a coat of spray paint to be fabulous.

Or, look deep in your attic or a family member's storage unit for treasures from the past!
