Does your porch need an update for the season? Here are my top Budget-Friendly Ways to Refresh Your Front Porch for Summer!

Your front porch is such an important part of your home. It's the first thing people see when they come over.

It is a gateway between your home and the outdoors and, if decorated appropriately, can really service an extension of your home.

You don't want to go overboard decorating your porch, but a few key decor elements can really go along way.

Today I want to talk about some of my favorite porch decor ideas specifically for summer!

Budget-Friendly Ways to Refresh Your Front Porch for Summer

Here are my favorite summer porch updates!

1. Swap in a Seasonal Doormat

Swapping out your front mat is such an easy way to add a splash of summer to the space!

Doormats come in so many colors and themes - find one you love and pick all of your other accessories to match!

  • Floral Hello Doormat
  • Ice Pop Welcome Mat
  • Watermelon mat

2. Layer Your Rugs

If your doormat is looking a little meh, consider adding a second, larger run underneath it.

This is a fun way to bring in color or texture. I actually love to re-use a layering rug for multiple seasons - there are so many possibilities to keep it feeling fresh!

  • Striped Outdoor Rug
  • Buffalo Plaid Rug
  • 48x24 Inch Oversized Welcome Mat

3. Add a Statement Planter

A planter is a great way to bring greenery or plants into your space.

You could do a freestanding planter or even a window box, depending on the amount of floor space that you have.

We even built a 3 tiered plant stand to go in the corner of our last porch - I loved it for coraling pots and making it look more cohesive!

Here are some awesome porch planters:

  • Chic, modern Span Planter
  • Tapered Wood Look Planters
  • Hanging Flower Pots for Railing
  • Hardwood Outdoor Flower Box

4. Add Hanging Baskets

No space for a planter? A hanging basket is a great option for drawing the eye vertically and adding color!

You can do real or faux plants - be realistic about what you can handle. Nothing's worse than killing plant after plant. No shame in the faux plant game!

  • Faux Morning Glory Vines
  • Faux Pothos Vines
  • Hanging faux boston ferns
  • 2 Pack Self Watering Hanging Planters
  • Faux Marble Hanging Planters

5. Paint the Front Door

Up for a bigger project? Changing the color of your front door is going to totally refresh the feel of the space.

If you want something specifically summery, I suggest you pick something light and bright!

Regardless, make sure that your undertones of your color match the undertones of your siding or exterior color. Warm with warm, cool with cool! This is the easiest way for good flow!

6. Use Solar-Powered Lights

I have found that so many front porches lack a power source! If this is the case, consider adding a few solar lights.

This can be nice for safety - no one wants to come home in the dark - and it looks great, too!

  • Solar Pendant Light
  • Solar Deck Lights
  • Solar String Lights
  • Solar Light with Plant Stand
  • Solar Lanterns

7. Incorporate a Seating Area

If you have the space, adding a seating area is a great way to make it feel cozier. Yes - even a single chair with a throw pillow helps!

If you have the space, 2 chairs and a side table is *chef's kiss*. I am shocked at how often ours gets used!

  • Outdoor Club Chairs
  • Rattan Indoor-Outdoor Stack Chairs
  • Rocking Bistro Set
  • Set of 2 Rocking Chairs

8. Add Outdoor Pillows for a Pop of Color

Speaking of, swapping out your outdoor pillows is a great way to make your porch feel fresh for the summer season!

Here are some of my favorite finds:

  • Banana Leaves Lumbar Pillow
  • Yellow Sunshine Throw pillow
  • Watercolor Blue Pillow Covers
  • Lemon Wedge Shaped Waterproof Throw Pillow
  • The perfect Summer Colored Pillow Covers

9. Style a Small Console or Side Table

If you have the space, a small table is great for your porch! It just makes the space feel more like a room - a real extension of the indoor part of your home!

  • Cement Console Table
  • Outdoor Cooler Side Table
  • Wicker Outdoor Storage Cabinet
  • Outdoor Geometric Concrete Side Table

10. Hang a Seasonal Wreath

Finally, adding a summer wreath is the easiest way to update your space. It's so basic, but a great way to make your door feel festive!

  • Yellow Daisy Wreath
  • Lemon Wreath
  • Peony Wreath
  • Delicate Wild Flower Wreath
  • Boxwood Wreath
