Charleston Inspired Christmas Gifts

We’ve told you about gifts for guys, gifts for girls, and gifts of an experience so far this week, but hey, we are CHARLESTON Crafted after all. Why not give people in your life some Charleston inspired Christmas gifts this season! This city is filled with so much culture, great food and history, so here are a few ideas that you might be interested in!

12 Charleston South Carolina Inspired Gift Ideas - Charleston Crafted

FOOD

The Charleston Tea Plantation is a great place to take someone, but you can also buy their (delicious) tea at the grocery store. It’s local and the only working tea plantation in the whole United States.

What about a cookbook for the chef in your life? Something like the Charleston Receipts from the Junior League, or one from a local chef like Sean Brock or the Lee Brothers.

DECOR

Sweetgrass art is soooo Charleston. The baskets are absolutely perfect and make great decor, but they can be a little expensive (here’s a source to purchase them online, but we recommend going in person and haggling – they expect it). If you don’t want to spend that much, there are lots of teens down by the Market that will make and sell you a sweetgrass rose for just $1. Give your loved one a whole bouquet!

Into geography or maps? Local artists have done a great job of creating unique maps of Charleston in various forms, like printed in blocks, on pillows or as a drawing.

Rewined Candles make the perfect gift for anyone. Tons of scents, including wine and other drinks, crafted in a repurposed wine bottle. They last a long time (especially their new Magnum line!) and look classy on everyone’s mantle.

There are lots of up-and-coming artists in Charleston too, like Teil Duncan and Blakely Little, that have amazing paintings to grace someone’s home.

MOVIES

Lots of famous movies have been filmed in Charleston, like The Notebook and The Patriot, as well as lots of TV shows, like Army Wives and Reckless. If they are a fan, grab them the Blu-Ray or go visit where the film was shot, like the College of Charleston for The Patriot or Seabrook Island for The Notebook.

EXPERIENCES

Did you know that the Charleston RiverDogs have cheap season ticket passes? They are always a big hit for locals – I personally suggest the Hot Dog Passport!

As for passes, the Charleston County Parks Gold Pass is a great value and awesome idea for someone who spends a lot of time outside. If you work for a large company in the area, be sure to see if they offer an employee discount – MUSC definitely does!

What about tickets to a concert or tennis match at Family Circle Cup?

You could even give them a harbor dinner cruise or a kayak rental on Shem Creek!

Finally, how about taking them out to the Firefly Distillery to sample some moonshine!
