While I personally like to have a timeless-feeling home, it is nice to pull in some interior design trends to help keep your space feeling fresh.
That's one of the benefits to decorating with neutral colors – it gives you the option to bring in new color trends via accents year after year and easily swap them out without having to do a major time consuming and expensive remodel.
Even if you don’t want to redesign your entire home, you can bring in some of these hot colors as accents to give a fresh feel.
Think accent walls, throw pillows, rugs, or artwork to subtly update your space.
Trending interior decor colors for 2025
In recent years, we’ve seen a shift away from the stark whites and greys that dominated the last decade. For 2025, the trend continues toward rich, earthy tones and soothing, nature-inspired shades.
These colors not only offer depth but also create a sense of comfort and tranquility in the home.

Sherwin-Williams Colormix Forecast 2025
Sherwin-Williams’ 2025 forecast centers around four palettes: Chrysalis, Paradox, Wellspring, and Kindred. Each tells a different color story, from the soft neutrals of Chrysalis (inspired by wood tones and earth) to the bold blues and greens of Wellspring.
The standout trend across all palettes is the shift toward colors that lean towards a deep connection to nature.
Notice that the neutral tones are for the most part, very warm, and the colors, while many are bold, are still a bit muted, with grayed undertones.
HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color of the Year: Quietude
This cool sage green with blue undertones is perfect for creating a peaceful, balanced space.
Whether used as a main wall color or an accent, Quietude pairs beautifully with natural elements, making it a versatile choice for many design styles.
I personally love a sage green paint color and think this one is fabulous and almost a neutral, but more interesting!
Benjamin Moore
Benjamin Moore's 2025 color of the year is Cinnamon Slate - delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown.
It is a really pretty mauve and I have seen a lot of muted mauve in interior design, so I definitely see it!
