Plants that grow from cuttings in water

Want to root your plants? It’s so rewarding and easy to do! Here are the best plants that grow from cuttings in water to start with!

If you love plants, you know that they are addicting. Once you have one, you want a bunch. You want to share them with friends and fill your shelves with them!

But, plants can be expensive. That’s why I love leaning on plant propagation to expand my plant collection, make my potted plants fuller, and create plants to share with friends!

Growing roots on cuttings of plants in water is the very easiest way to propagate plants.

You don’t need special tools or skills. All you need is:

  • A starter plant
  • Sharp clean scissors
  • A jar or cup of water
  • Indirect light – such as a sunny window

You will take a cutting from your starter plant and place it in water in indirect sunlight. Check the water regularly and replace or refill it as needed. You should have roots in a few weeks!

In general, for propagating in water, you want to look for plants with pliable green stems.

Plants with woody stems do not propagate easily in water.
