Want to add a spooky touch to your Halloween home decor? Here's how to make super simple Halloween sunflower skulls + eyeball flowers!

I absolutely love Halloween and love decorating for the super fun holiday.

This year, I decided to do a plant themed Halloween mantle.

However, whether you love plants or just want a little spooky decor to sprinkle around for your Halloween party, this craft is super easy and really fun and funny to do.

They are a huge hit – my kids especially think they are awesome.

Here's how to make Halloween sunflower skulls, and eyeball flowers!

How to make Halloween Eyeball Flowers

Eyeball flowers are super easy to make using any faux florals you might have on hand. Just make sure that you can easily get to the center of the flower - no tight buds!

Supplies needed to make eyeball flowers:

  • fake eyeballs
  • red flowers
  • hot glue gun + glue

Steps to make eyeball flowers:

  1. Heat up your hot glue gun
  2. Take your flower and sort of separate it so you can get fully to the center
  3. Apply hot glue to the backside of the eyeball
  4. Press firmly until secure
  5. Pick off the hot glue strings
  6. Bend the stem so the flower is turned to face the front and not upward
  7. Place in a vase

Note - some of these eyeballs are foam and some are plastic. The foam ones melt slightly from hot glue. It's ok if it's hidden, but just something to be aware of. I prefer the plastic ones!

How to make Halloween Skull Sunflowers

These skull sunflowers are my favorite floral I made this year! They are so funny to me, I can't stop grinning when I look at them!

Supplies needed to make sunflower skulls:

  • plastic mini skulls
  • sunflowers
  • Scissors or hand saw
  • hot glue gun + glue

Steps to make sunflower skulls:

  1. First you need to cut the faces off your skulls. Depending on the thickness of the plastic, you may be able to use scissors. I used a hack saw to do this. Be careful not to cut yourself.
  2. Plug in your hot glue.
  3. Apply hot glue onto the cut edge of your skull
  4. Press into the center of the sunflower
  5. Pick off the hot glue strings
  6. Bend the stem so the flower is turned to face the front and not upward
  7. Place in a vase

How to display your halloween florals

To make a display for my Halloween florals, I simply used clear glass vases that I use all year round.

adding paper and foam to a glass vase

I took a piece of black card stock (or you could use construction paper) and rolled it up and put it inside the vase.

This made the vase look black and glossy, but was just temporary.

Obviously this would not work if your flowers needed water but it's totally fine for faux florals.

I used floral foam inside my face to hold the plants perfectly in place and make sure to bend the stems so that they were facing forward and looked the best!
