Looking for an easy way to gather samples for your home renovation? In this DesignShop Box Review, I’ll share how this service makes it simple to order and visualize all your design materials in one convenient box!

Thank you to DesignShop for sponsoring this post. All opinions are true and our own.

Planning a room renovation is a daunting task. There are so many decisions to be made - like who to hire, when to start, and how much to spend.

And then there are also the more fun decisions - the design choices!

You might get to pick paint, fabric, flooring, tile, and/or hardware. There are so many finishes to select, and you want to be sure that they all coordinate and work well together.

When designing a room, whenever possible, it is ideal to get material samples and lay them all out together next to each other so you can really see how the materials flow and visualize the finished space.

But, getting all of those samples can be cumbersome and overwhelming.

Until now, when DesignShop has released a fantastic service to make ordering all of the samples that you need for a room renovation easy and convenient.

What is DesignShop?

DesignShop is a service that allows you to select samples of a wide variety of materials across an assortment of brands for your home renovation and order them all from one convenient place, in one convenient box.

This service was started by the makers of Samplize, who make peel and stick paint samples, that I have used and recommended for many years now.

Samplize was seeing such a positive response from the homeowners and designers that used their products and wanted to expand to offer a wider variety of renovation materials.

They have partnered with many of the leading decor brands so you can get exact samples of the products you already love - without having to order from many different places.

How does DesignShop work?

DesignShop allows you to browse online for different design materials and select the ones you are most interested in. Compare them online and then add your favorites to your cart and order them! You pay by the sample, so you can get as many or as few as you want.

One of my favorite parts of their website is the ability to browse pre-designed spaces. You can, for example, filter to kitchens, select the image of a kitchen that you like, and add all of the materials from that kitchen to your cart in one simple selection.

Or you can filter to a designable space and drag in the samples that you have selected, so that you can better visualize them in a mock up before committing to the samples.

How does DesignShop ship?

DesignShop offers free FedEx Overnight shipping Monday - Friday on all orders over $25. For orders under $25, the shipping fee is $4.95. They ship to the contiguous 48 states.

My order came literally overnight without issue. It was faster than Amazon!

Our Experience with DesignShop

I ordered a box from DesignShop to help to visualize the makeover that we will be doing in our kids bathroom.

Since this is a kids space, I want to play with color in a way that I normally might not.

I didn't have a strong vision for the space, but I was really drawn to this wallpaper from Olivia + Poppy.

From there, I pulled in any samples that would work in a bathroom that matched the general color scheme.

Then, I used the mock up visualizer to narrow down my favorites.

I ordered my design box and had my samples the next day to test in the space!

The samples that I ordered include:

  • Tattered Stripes Vertical wallpaper from Olivia + Poppy
  • Slate Blue Fireclay Tile
  • Fabuwood Allure - Galaxy Designer Collection Cabinets
  • Durat Solid Surface Countertop - Mint Green
  • TileBar Bond Porcelain Tile
  • Benjamin Moore Blue Grass
  • Kohler Occasion Cabinet Knob

I love being able to hold the samples in my hand and really get a feel for the quality and how they complement each other. Plus, you can see colors in person better than on the computer, so it gives you a true look at what you are getting.

I am thrilled with this box and it has made me so excited to renovate this space!

Final Thoughts

I have loved trying out DesignShop and really wish that this was an option when we were designing our kitchen last year.

It takes away a lot of the overwhelm of selecting finishes, since you can get them all from one source, and makes it so easy to visualize your design before making expensive commitments.

If you are planning a room renovation, absolutely check out DesignShop!
