Remember when we carved pumpkins a few weeks ago for Halloween? We told you we were going to save the seeds for a little recipe we had found. It was pretty simple:
- wash off all the seeds and lay them out on a cooking pan to dry until the next day
- spray the seeds with cooking spray
- sprinkle them with any of your favorite spices (we split ours in half and did half with Ol’ Bay and half with garlic and onion powders
- bake them on 350 degrees for 45 minutes
Unfortunately, they didn’t turn out so well. It was probably a combination of things. We let them sit in the refrigerator for a couple weeks before we did anything with them. Then, once we laid them out, we let them sit out for a couple of days. Then, we accidentally left them in the oven for an hour. Even with these things, we still don’t think they would have turned out too well. The seasoning didn’t really bring out a lot of flavor, so they mostly just tasted like we were chewing on dried popcorn kernels that never popped. Oh well, we’ll have to try again next year. Overall conclusion- BEAT IT.
Have you ever tried cooking pumpkin seeds? Did they turn out better than ours?
