Halloween Puppy Chow

Puppy chow is just one of those nostalgic foods for me – it makes me think of girls scouts and being a kid and snacking and reading the Baby Sitter’s club. It’s that good. It’s also extremely easy to whip up in large quantities and is perfect for when you’re hosting a crowd. We’ve had a lot of house guests lately, and I’ve found myself making huge batches of halloween puppy chow. However, it’s super easy to customize for any occasion – just swap out the candies and sprinkles for whatever suits your fancy!

What you need:

  • 1 cup white chocolate melts
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 9 cups chex cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • candy & sprinkles, to taste

What you do:

In a microwave safe bowl, combine peanut butter, butter, and chocolate melts. Microwave and stir until melted. I did 30 seconds at a time, 3 times.

Once that’s melted, add one teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir to combine.

Pour the cereal in a very large bowl. Pour the melted goodness over and stir to completely coat. It takes about 5 minutes of stirring. Be gentle so you don’t break up the cereal.
