Three Little Closet Updates

I already shared with you how I designed & built new closet systems for my master bedroom & replaced the sliding doors with curtains. I am in L-O-V-E with them, but there are still a few little things I’ve had to address:

1. Belt Storage

I have a lot of belts that I really haven’t known what to do with. They’ve been balled up in a ball on the floor in the corner of my room, honestly. So, I decided to finally tackle that one. All I did was hang a row of command hooks on the wall and slip on the belts. It took less than five minutes, and is temporary- which is great because I really want to paint the insides of these closets down the road. It’s a project I’m dreading.

2. Organizing Empty Hangers

I love my closet, but it’s not the biggest space in the world. The last thing that I want is to be taking up valuable space with empty hangers. I usually do laundry on Sundays, so by the end of the week there could be a bunch of empty hangers just hanging out. Ha-ha.

So, I decided to grab a fabric storage bin (from Michaels, on sale & of course with a coupon!) I sat it on the floor under my shorts & just throw the empty hangers in there. It is so nice to have them out of the way so that I can focus on what’s clean!

3. Upgrading the “clippy” skirt hangers

Changing all of my hangers to black velvet matching hangers made a huge difference in making my closet look more neat & organized. I got my hangers box-by-box, coupon-by-coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond. However, they did not have any clippy velvet hangers! Well, they had some, but they were the type that you hang 5 pairs on top of each other. I’ve had those before and, while that saves horizontal space, it’s SO ANNOYING when you want that pair in the middle. So, I’ve been googling and searching and voila! I finally found some that I like at Marshalls! They came in 6 packs and I grabbed all 3 that they had, haha! Never know when you’ll see them again! The cohesiveness makes a HUGE difference!

Now all that’s left is painting the inside of the closets (why oh why didn’t I do that first!) & replacing the lighting in between the closets. Oh, and maybe a rug!
