Two weeks before the challenge officially started, we had the walls between the living room & dining room and the dining room & the kitchen. After that, we painted the walls, hung crown molding, built up the fireplace, built a pipe bench, painted the front door, built a live edge coffee table, built a driftwood sunburst mirror, and decorated the entire space.

I am so excited for how this space turned out. It is blue and I think blends well with the rest of our home. It feels coastal and natural and comfortable. We tried to make it more formal than our TV room, but not too stuffy or fancy. I love that the first space that people see when they walk into our home is truly finished (well, for now).

Our challenge to ourselves was to do the room for under $2,000, which is a ton of money, but included a large purchase of furniture (a sofa, two chairs, and a coffee table at least). I am so excited to say that we did the space for $1,800, truly thanks to using a lot of accessories (small things add up!) that we already had on hand. Here is the exact budget breakdown. Comment below if you want any more break-down details, I am a CPA and have it all!

We loved participating in the One Room Challenge because it really forced us to stick to a timeline. In some of our other spaces, the projects have just dragged on forever (the Master Bathroom mini makeover took 2 months just because of little things!) and our master bedroom we fixed up the one side of the room and then just abandoned the other side 🙂 I definitely plan to participate in more ORC’s in the future!

If you are visiting for the first time, I hope that you will click around and add us to your blog reader. We just moved in July and have a lot of house left to decorate!
