Kauai Day Seven – Pool Day at the Resort!

We LITERALLY (*Chris Traeger voice from Parks and Rec*) spent the entire day at the resort and the pool on day seven. As you know by now, we are the type of people who spend a lot of time go go go on our vacations and we do so many activities and plan so many things. But for one day on our entire trip, we wanted to just chill and think about nothing. I mean, we’re in Hawaii after all.

We stayed at the Kauai Marriott Resort at Kalapaki Beach, which boasts the largest pool on the entire island. We relaxed all day by the pool and had lunch at the Kalapaki Grill, aka the pool bar on site. We had a salad (healthy, right?) and fish tacos and some incredible Cajun tater tots that were probably the best tots I’ve ever had (*Napolean Dynamite voice*).

At 1:00, we got up and went to watch the koi fish feeding in the garden of the hotel. There were a couple hundred of these cat-sized fish swimming there all week with a sign that there were feedings twice a day, but we hadn’t gotten to participate. The guy gave each of us a cup of fish food and we got to throw it in and watch them feast. It might sound lame, but wow did those fish go crazy!

When it was finally nighttime, we walked to the shops near the resort. Morgan wanted to “pick a pearl” at a stand where you get to fish for an oyster and keep whatever is inside. She pulled it out and it actually contained TWO pink pearls! She was whispering “I hope I get a pink one” and got two. Crazy. She had them set on gold studs and it became her big souvenir from Kauai. Since we bought jewelry, we got a free oyster pick so I gave it a whirl and got on big black one. It was lame, but fun.

We walked a little further and got two sushi rolls for dinner and went to bed with shockingly only a little bit of a sunburn. It was an incredibly relaxing day and we’re so glad we took the opportunity to do it.
